How do I start the process?
The process starts by simply outreaching to Ethiopian Heritage Tours via email with your plans and timeline for visiting the country. Provide as much detail as possible, including budget, how long you want to stay in the country, how many people are in your travel party, places you want to visit and experiences that you are looking for.
Ethiopian Heritage Tour will send a specific itinerary for the trip based off the information that you provide, including lodging and scenic stops along the way. If your travel party is more than four people, Ethiopian Heritage Tour will hire an additional staff member for the trip from their vast network of connections. You are able to make any changes to the trip and Ethiopian Heritage Tour will work to ensure the trip fits your budget and desires. The pricing will include all in country transportation (not air travel if traveling by air around the country), lodging, experiences in itinerary, breakfast and dinner food. Ethiopian Heritage Tours will stay in communication with you leading up to the trip, providing you with helpful information to make sure the trip is a success and answering any questions that you may have.
How does the in-country experience work?
Tesfaye will pick you up at the airport upon arrival and be with you throughout the trip. He knows his place as a tour guide, he is there when needed and provides the space families to experience the country on their own. Tesfaye provides a safe and enjoyable experience while in Ethiopia, giving plenty of opportunities to stop the car and take in the beauty of the land, people and culture. While he may seem like a member of the family by the end of the trip, Tesfaye knows his boundaries as a tour guide; he is there when needed, but provides space for families to experience the country on their own.
Ethiopian Heritage Tours only places guests with lodges and organizations that they have personally worked with and inspected and found to meet their high standards.

How much does it cost?
Since all trips are unique, the cost really depends on a number of factors, including length of the visit, locations visiting, number of guests, and any special requests. Contact Ethiopian Heritage Tour to get an accurate quote for what you want to experience in Ethiopia.
How does payment work for the trip?
To confirm your trip, we request a deposit by wire transfer. The wire instructions will be provided once the trip details and pricing are finalized. The balance of the fee is due in cash at the end of the trip.
What type of foods are available during the trip?
Ethiopia has a wide range of food options beyond the wonderful Ethiopian food. Options include American, Asian, Italian and more.
What are the road conditions?
There is a range of road conditions across the country, from nice highways to very bumpy dirt roads. Most travel is on paved roads that do have a number of potholes. Road conditions have improved tremendously over the past 10 years.
How do I find you at the airport?
Tesfaye will meet you in the international terminal in the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Make sure I have your cell number and you have mine. I will have a sign with your travel group name on it.
What medications should we get vaccinated for?
Follow the international protocol for visiting Ethiopia. Consult your doctor or international travel clinic.
Is it safe to travel in Ethiopia?
Ethiopia is a warm and friendly place and safe to travel in. Like all places, it is recommended to take precautions and follow the advice of your guide.
What happens if the car breaks down during the trip?
