TESTIMONIALS

We recently returned from the December 2017 trip to Ethiopia in order to share our two sons' homeland with them.  The entire experience was fantastic and beyond our expectations. Tesfaye was recommended to us by another adoptive family and from initial email contact to itinerary planning, we knew we’d be in good hands.  He took our sons’ interests and ages, 11 and 7 at the time, into consideration when he gave lodging recommendations, sight seeing options and family visit timelines.  During our drives and various trips we enjoyed learning more of Ethiopia’s rich history, culture and landscapes secondary to Tesfaye’s diverse knowledge on so many subjects.  Furthermore, his compassion for our family and sense of humor made him not only an incredible tour guide, but a friend you hope to keep connected with after the trip is done.

As a couple we visited Ethiopia in April 2018 for the first time. We had been recommended to choose Tesfaye as our guide and driver on a 2-week excursions around the highlights of the Northern part. From the start at Bole airport we were relieved to be guided by such a helpful, trustworthy and good english speaking guide in an unknown country. In those 2 weeks, Tesfaye appeared not only to be a very good and safe driver with extensive background on history, culture, religion and economy but also has an eagle eye for details along the road. He spots while concentrating on the traffic easily details of daily life which illustrates cultural differences along the road. He is excellent in wildlife spotting, with a bird watching specialty. He identifies very accurately species and gender of many birds and knows directly their name and habitat, every time confirmed by the guide book.

He is also accurate in time planning and cares for a good balance of driving and relaxing. He not only seems to know a lot of good places for drinking, eating and sleeping, but knows people all over the country. And knows what to order and let you experience all kinds of special food. During all the time we traveled with Tesfaye in the car and outside he is very nice company and is like a real friend. He is very reliable and we fully trusted him. He does not only handle the steering wheel with ease, but he knows his car thoroughly. One time he sensed a minor dysfunction in the engine, he fixed it skillfully in a minute.

When we had another opportunity to visit Ethiopia for 2 weeks in May 2019 again, we were sure only to make an excursion to the South of Ethiopia when Tesfaye was available to guide us. In advance he confirmed his availability and made a nice proposition for this itinerary, all using email. This time we were a party of three, because my son (25 years old) joined us, who had been staying several months in Ethiopia. During this trip all the earlier mentioned qualities made also this trip also a memorable experience! He appeared to have a broad selection and knowledge of music, both in Amharic as in other languages. He really feels as a friend we can fully rely on. We were invited to his home to celebrate with his family Eastern Fest, which is an important ceremony in the Orthodox Christian Church (85% of Ethiopians are members). There is still a lot to discover in Ethiopia. We are looking forward to travel to other nice parts in the future, but only when Tesfaye will guide is again. We do not hesitate to advice all visitors to Ethiopia to select Tesfaye as their guide!

Tesfaye was an outstanding guide for our family's trip for sightseeing and family visits in Ethiopia. He really listened to us and personalized the trip, just for us, so it was fun for a 5-year old all the way up to adults. The kids (5 and 9 at the time) thought his car was really cool and "he was a really good tour guide." He not only took us to beautiful scenic and recreational places, but also helped us experience excellent local food and culture. Just as importantly, Tesfaye seemed to truly care about us and looked out for the kids to make sure they were having a good experience in some unique situations. We wholeheartedly recommend Tesfaye!

We loved our trip in Ethiopia. Because of this wonderful country, of course, but also thanks to our guide, Tesfaye, who made us discover the different aspects of this beautiful country.

We enjoyed everything with this trip: the people, landscape views, culture, churches in the mountains, paintings and more.

Tesfaye is an exceptional person. He loves his country and does a wonderful of sharing it. He knows a lot about history, religions, various cultures and politics. With his kindness, he easily links you with the people that you meet along the way.  We travelled 3 weeks by car, Tesfaye was our guide & driver. He speaks English really well. Tesfaye is a man of talent and a big value.

We used Tesfaye to arrange our trip for our family visit and a tour of the Rift Valley. He was wonderful. The accommodations he arranged were lovely; the tours were varied and interesting. He navigated our journey professionally, bringing his personable and generous nature to every day of the week-long trip. I would use him again in a heartbeat. In fact, I can't imagine trying to navigate a trip beyond Addis without using him.

We have traveled to Ethiopia three times to visit this wonderful country. Our most recent tour with Tesfaye and his great Toyota Land Cruiser. This was a perfect decision.  I have worked 7 years in Africa myself and had many special requests for photo and film stops. Also I wished to stay in original and African style housing, and the accommodations were beautiful. The food was always good and the quality of the fine tomato soup remains my personal tip. Since I like hiking in Africa, not only climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 1973, my trip to the Semien Mountains in the north was also particularly unique

Tesfaye speaks very good English and knows about everything. Since I have ample experience with riders through my work in Africa, mostly negative, we had a lot of fun with Tesfaye and his impressive knowledge. He could also easily take part in many personal conversations, like a knowing friend. Tesfaye was always helpful and in a good mood. At the end of the tour we celebrated a traditional meal and tea with Tesfaye and family.

I have stayed an Ethiopian fan, even with my 75 years and many traveled countries in Africa.
I wish travelers to or "maybe" to Ethiopia all the best. All the happiness of this family to the people of Ethiopia.
